On September 23, 2010 you received a communication from Ora Pescovitz/Doug Strong/James Woolliscroft regarding the UMHS 2010 flu vaccine program. UMHS approached the UMPNC regarding this initiative. While we strongly support and encourage all members to be vaccinated, the UMPNC does not believe that the flu vaccine should be mandatory. As an alternative, UMPNC members may refuse to get the flu vaccine and, instead, sign a declination form. 

We believe that UMHS will require those members who decline to have a flu vaccine to wear a mask when interacting with patients. The UMPNC does not endorse this policy. However, if your manager requires you to wear a mask, you must do so. A refusal could subject you to discipline.
